Charity Alert: Keep that Resolution to click on The Hunger Site every day. Also check into Terra Sigilata blog -- donate $$$ to cancer patients just by clicking onto the site.

In The Community: Donna Gans' wit and humor, the multi-dimensional Members' Salon, a sale of first-rate ceramics, and a "Round Up" wreath auction at the Hockaday Museum of Art!

Media Watch: A Lilith Fair special on Montana NPR started off with a song by Lily Hayden, who now plays violin with George Clinton & Parliament/Funkadelic, in the BIG ensemble.

On The Road: Members of Parliament/Funkadelic AKA The 420 Funk Mob played in Tacoma, Washington last night (Quoted from co-leader Michael "Clip" Payne):
Here is just a quick run through everybody of what went down the first night ...This is a partial song list and its not in the exact order. The band was smokin from the first song. The show was video taped and audio recorded.
Revolution
Nuthing Before Me But Thang
Small Town Ways
Ill Stay
Cold Hearted World
Helter Skelter
Runnin Away into
Standing on the Verge of Gettin it On
Red Hot Mama
We want the Funk
Somethin Stank
baby I owe U something good
I got A Thing
I Wanna Know If Its Good to Baby
Music for My Mother
I Got A Thang
Mothership Connection
Star Child
When We were Lovers
This is only a partial list. The band was on point.
(Saxophonist) Greg Thomas was a welcome addition to the band. The Mob really took it to outer space a few times in the almost 3 hour set.
Much Much more to come

An alternate poster for the Funk Mob's West Coast mini-tour. They will have guitarist/composer Shaunna Hall opening for them in San Francisco, along with special guest Eric McFadden. Ms. Hall will likely be sitting in once the gig gets going -- she toured with the full-sized band last May.

Boycott Dancing with the Stars! (See post from 11-06-2007) There was scattered snow around the Flathead Valley the other day, but it didn't stick -- in fact the weather got almost NICE afterwards!

Sitemeter Sez: Visitors from Somerset, New Jersey; Cleveland, Ohio; Windsor, California; Jamaica, New York; Valencia, Spain; Boston, Massachusetts (twice); Brooklyn, New York and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

In The Community: The Kalispell Art Walk and Christmas Stroll is shaping up at the Hockaday Museum of Art!

Media Watch: Sideshow diversions are crowding out serious issues in the electronic forum of ideas. I know it isn't anything new, but it's substituting for news -- one example is CNN's disgustingly shallow Democratic Candidates' Debate -- apparently sponsored by Clinton Campaign Inc. What happened in Las Vegas should have f***in' STAYED there! I hope those who are selected to vote in the primaries (not me or anyone I know) will vote AGAINST manipulation like this. Our bread is being stolen as these inept circuses cause the crowd to close their eyes in disgust.

Turn and face the strange ... CHANGES: One of our students passed away -- From Kalispell's Daily Inter Lake
A Kalispell man involved in a Saturday evening crash ... died Thursday from injuries suffered in the wreck. Paul Mosby, 21, was northbound on West Valley Drive in a Subaru station wagon when he ran a stop sign and collided with a Jeep Cherokee westbound on Farm to Market Road ... There is no stop sign for traffic on Farm To Market at that intersection. Mosby was not wearing a seat belt. Alcohol, drugs, or excessive speed do not appear to be factors in the crash ... There were no passengers in either vehicle.

A previously-scheduled concert tonight at Flathead Valley Community College has been re-geared to honor Paul's memory. I personally will remember him -- constantly strumming his guitar around the Student Center, wearing his black leather clothes and eccentric haircuts. He, and his friendly energy will be missed.

Theater/Theatre: Day-UM! http://katieduck.com has the following pic on Katie's biography page:

That's the late great George Kugler as "Third Base," and Katie as "Stubby" in Utah during a photo shoot in 1975-76, while they were re-forming the Great Salt Lake Mime Troupe. (I was still living in England at the time.) She's crediting the pic to "Theatre-X," which is right, since it was extensively reprinted over the years in various forms before I redigitized it into THIS composition.

Boycott Dancing with the Stars! (See post from 11-06-2007) Clear and bright, but a little cold -- the frost on my car windows was almost too pretty to scrape away this morning.

The Moon at 6PM, just before I went to my writers' meeting (see below) -- it will be full enough when our Novenber Novels are DONE!

Sitemeter Sez: Visitors from Un-named, Canada; Montlcuon, France (Footsbarn fan or compatriot); Chicago, Illinois; Winnipeg, Manitoba; Boulder, Colorado and Benson, North Carolina.

In The Community: The Kalispell Art Walk and Christmas Stroll is shaping up to be a BIG one, with the Hockaday Museum of Art at or near the bulls-eye of the action.

InSanity Clauses: The Asylum Choir from National Novel Writing Month sang our blues at Borders Books tonight.

Media Watch: The Soap-Opera Hunk is off Trash A Go Go -- I saw that while I was fixing my cable TV. If Marie Osmond sticks around any longer, that bad smell will be pollution from the Fan Factor. Sci-Fi Channel's Flash Gordon was listed, but wasn't on -- what was running resembled a game show, with some jump-suited schlub deliberately standing as a target, while a near-topless show-model shot him in the crotch with a paintball gun -- I guess someone thought THAT would be funny.

P-Funk is playing as the 420 Funk Mob, a smaller unit than the big touring band. They will be in Tacoma, Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco from November 16 through 23.

Boycott Dancing with the Stars! (See post from 11-06-2007) The softest most beautiful morning you can imagine today -- real Autumn. A hunter's backpack saved his life when he tried to run from a Mountain Lion in the Swan Valley near here this week. The noise of his handgun scared it away while his backback was getting clawed to ribbons -- he's lucky he didn't shoot himself in his panic. I'm glad he wasn't seriously hurt, but I'm afraid that the authorities are going to track the dumb brute down now, or be pressured to do it.

In The Community: The Art Walk is coming to the Hockaday Museum of Art, and we've got a bunch of ambitious ideas -- we'd also like to sell some ceramics, and make a few bucks on those cool wreaths by local artists. Tis' the season!

InSanity Clauses: Me and my fellow asylum-mates from National Novel Writing Month are having a get-together at Borders Books tonight.

Media Watch: I was reading R.A. Lafferty and Robert Anton Wilson last night -- Sci-Fi with HUMOR. I'm going to try and channel their savoir faire in my November Novel, plus borrow some structure from John Wyndham and Phillip K. Dick.

High Patroness of this blog, Ida Rubinstein, with Vaslav Nijinsky in their intensely sexual pas de deux from Scheherazade for the Ballet Russes in 1910. After scaring Serge Diaghilev half to death with her pet leopard, and his calling the cops on her in retaliation, she left the company. Those facts may be related, but maybe not. Nijinsky left the Ballet Russes as soon as he was able to get away also. His sister later became Ida's main choreographer.

Boycott Dancing with the Stars! (See Tuesday's post) Beautiful, billowy clouds obscuring the mountains -- they will be bright white when the weather clears.

In The Community: Art Walk coming to the Hockaday Museum of Art next -- 27 locations around Kalispell and Evergreen. Unlike Pokemon, NOBODY can catch ALL events.

InSanity Clauses: National Novel Writing Month and I'm slipping into Act II (of three) -- that means building conflict, and revealation of character(s).

Media Watch: I haven't said much about NFL Football this year. I took time to watch the Patriots duke it out with the Superbowl Champion Colts last week. New England beat the champs, and Indianapolis took another beating from San Diego when I looked-in earlier -- too many intercepted passes.
Montana PBS is playing a lot of Tangerine Dream tonight -- excellent novel-writing music (hint).

November 11 is Veterans (Armistice) Day, and to honor the spirit of the tragic War To End All Wars, here are two views of Ida Rubinstein, High Patroness of this blog. (Right) FANTASY Ida as femme fatale Zobeide in Ballet Russes' Scheherazade in 1910, and (Left) REAL Ida, spending her time, and part of her significant fortune, running a hospital in Paris during WWI. She would later nurse French soldiers in England during WWII. Madame Rubinstein was awarded the Legion of Honor for her devotion to her adopted country. The troops she helped remembered Ida long after she was forgotten by most of the theatrical world.
